The Ashland Independent Film Festival (AIFF) is excited to announce the
AIFF2024 Poster Contest!
The winning entry will be a central part of the Annual Festival, integral to our 2024 marketing efforts, and will be printed as a poster to be sold locally and online.
Artists are invited to submit artwork or photography for the AIFF Poster Contest and a Peoples’ Choice Award. Artists may submit one piece of artwork with a $20 entry fee. The entry fee is used to support the contest and Film Festival.
The Top 5 pieces will be announced and shared on Social Media and the AIFF website prior to the Festival in October. The winning poster will be announced at a special event in July 2024.
JUROR AND SELECTION PROCESS
The AIFF Arts committee will judge submitted entries and select the Top 5 pieces. The Committee, comprised of local business and art gallery owners, and members of AIFF, will select winners of 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place and 2 honorable mentions.
Judging will be based on a combination of:
Celebrating the Bounty of Ashland and Southern Oregon
Connection to the Film World
Marketability & Sales Potential
PEOPLES’ CHOICE AWARD
The remaining 4 (four) finalists will have their work displayed during the AIFF2024 Film Festival (Oct 3-6, 2024) where a voting system will be used and the public will choose their favorite piece. The Peoples’ Choice Winner will be announced after the Festival.
ARTIST RECEPTION & POSTER UNVEILING
We will welcome poster participants and ticketed members to an artist reception and the poster unveiling event July, 2024. The Top 5 finalists will display their artwork at the Artist Reception where the pieces will remain through the festival for a chance to win the Peoples’ Choice Award.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
Artists of all ages are welcome to participate.
All mediums are accepted, keeping in mind that the winning piece must be photographed and will be printed as a poster. Including the medium used is required on the entry form.
One (1) entry per artist will be accepted. Artists may submit past artwork if the piece has not placed in a previous art contest.
Artwork can be any size, however, the submitted file must be vertical and sent to be printed as a 16” x 20” vertical image. The original piece can be any size (ex: 8” x 10”) but will be printed as a 16” x 20” vertical image so much be able to transfer to those dimensions. No other sizes will be accepted.
Files must be submitted in JPEG, JPG, or PDF (preferred) format at 300 dpi or higher. Poster will be printed in CMYK colors.
The winning artist retains ownership of the original artwork and can sell it at their discretion, but irrevocably assigns to AIFF, by submitting and signing the entry form, exclusive copyright, trademark, licensing, marketing, distribution, reproduction, and registration rights to the artwork for any, and all purposes and uses.
By submitting to this contest, all artists are agreeing to have their artwork posted online.
The artwork should interpret this year’s theme - celebrating the legacy of Ashland and Independent Film. No text please.
All artists must complete the online submission form, an artist bio, artist statement for their piece, and a $20 entry fee.
